National Recycle Day
This day requires you to preserve the earth that is slowly withering away. On this day we must ride bicycles, rollerblade, walk, run, or find a type of transportation that does not produce any toxins that will get into the air. This will take place on the 4th day of August.
People will be required to not work, as working in buildings produces wastes and toxins. Instead you have to spend quality time with your family.
Activities include to go camping, tenting, to the park, to ponds, any where to notice the beautiful nature. People can also hold BBQ’s, with music playing and people dancing and enjoying themselves.
My favourite holiday would be thanksgiving. I like thanksgiving because as a Ukrainian family, we love food, both making and eating it. This gives us a chance to come together as a family which doesn’t happen often because we are generally too busy but it also allows us to remember where we came from, and to be thankful for our families and the things we are blessed with. This holiday was created because of a celebration for a plentiful harvest.
I do not believe it has long some of it’s meaning. People are still thankful today on thanksgiving especially. In North America we have a lot more to be thankful for than in places in Africa but the sad thing is that they are so happy with all the things they have unlike us in North America where we are greedy, and are picky with the things we get. I also do not think this holiday has been packaged or sold. I say this because everyone celebrates things that they are thankful for to some extent, and this is better than not being thankful at all.
My family celebrates this holiday by going to my grandparents house, where we have spent every thanksgiving, as well as the rest of my extended family. We go there in the mid-afternoon hang out as a family, and eat normally an early dinner. Our dinner includes a lot of Ukrainian foods which majority of people would not be able to understand or read. On another day, we will go to my other side of the family and do it all over again.
