Holiday Creation

National Recycle Day
This day requires you to preserve the earth that is slowly withering away. On this day we must ride bicycles, rollerblade, walk, run, or find a type of transportation that does not produce any toxins that will get into the air. This will take place on the 4th day of August.
People will be required to not work, as working in buildings produces wastes and toxins. Instead you have to spend quality time with your family.
Activities include to go camping, tenting, to the park, to ponds, any where to notice the beautiful nature. People can also hold BBQ’s, with music playing and people dancing and enjoying themselves.
My favourite holiday would be thanksgiving. I like thanksgiving because as a Ukrainian family, we love food, both making and eating it. This gives us a chance to come together as a family which doesn’t happen often because we are generally too busy but it also allows us to remember where we came from, and to be thankful for our families and the things we are blessed with. This holiday was created because of a celebration for a plentiful harvest.
I do not believe it has long some of it’s meaning. People are still thankful today on thanksgiving especially. In North America we have a lot more to be thankful for than in places in Africa but the sad thing is that they are so happy with all the things they have unlike us in North America where we are greedy, and are picky with the things we get. I also do not think this holiday has been packaged or sold. I say this because everyone celebrates things that they are thankful for to some extent, and this is better than not being thankful at all.
My family celebrates this holiday by going to my grandparents house, where we have spent every thanksgiving, as well as the rest of my extended family. We go there in the mid-afternoon hang out as a family, and eat normally an early dinner. Our dinner includes a lot of Ukrainian foods which majority of people would not be able to understand or read. On another day, we will go to my other side of the family and do it all over again.

Mood: Relaxed/Peaceful
The soothing sounds of the undisturbed, waveless ocean and cool sand intertwined between my toes made me feel like I was in  paradise. My mind free from any worries, any problems or trials I had been facing. It was me and the only person I loved. Here we were spending unforgettable time in a breathless place watching a slow, serene sun hide beneath the waters.
In the stand still moment, I felt like absolutely nothing in this world could go wrong. As we sit in this spine chilling, damp, bitter cave, I feel heat radiating from my left. Only to find his body peacefully against mine. He was here to keep me warm, cozy and comfortable and I can reassure you that is what he was doing. As the sun was peeking over the top of the waters we knew it was time to depart. I looked over only to see that at that time, he needed to finish the date off right. He leaned in surprisingly close to my face. Under that setting sun his bland lips slowly began to reach for mine. There under that setting sun, we managed to have our lasting kiss.

My Scariest Dream (that I remember at least)

The scariest dream that I have ever has was when I got kidnapped. This dream occurred when I was quite young. The dream went a little like this: I was playing on my front yard at my old house which was a large area with a tree in the middle. What my sister and I would always do was climb up the tree and there were places in between the branches where we would sit. It happened in the summer and we were playing in the front yard, this was nothing out of the ordinary. At my old house, we lived on a bay. Now on this day, we had noticed a car had driven around a couple of times but it did not come to our attention. The game we were playing was hide and go seek, and at this particular moment it was my turn to hide. I decided that I would go and hide up in the tree. I took my time getting there, but that car that had gone around was stopped by the front yard. I was not too sure what to think of it so I was going to hide high up in the tree. Before I could get there, a man with a weird looking beard came out of the truck and snatched me up. He put me in his car and told me not to say anything.  My sister didn’t realize anything because she had just thought that I had a good hiding spot. Whiles I was in the back of the van, we made a couple more stops and I was slowly joined by more kids. There was no way of getting out, and more importantly no hope of getting out. For weeks, we were fed nothing, we got insignificant amounts of water and sure enough, that had been the end of my life, and dream.

The reason this was so scary was because I am petrified of being kidnapped and in this dream it happened. I didn’t like the way I died and I didn’t like the queasy feeling I had when I had woken up. Not for certain, but I don’t think I went back to sleep that night. This dream does not overly remind me of anything else except of my fear of being kidnapped.

Keepsake Items

Part 1:
a)    Going to Hawaii (a picture)
b)    Basketball Provincials
c)     To become a doctor

Part 2:

Going to Hawaii
a)    A picture of my family in the water of Hawaii on one of the last days. It is taken whiles the sun is setting because it was very beautiful and it was a regular thing for us to watch it go down each night.
b)    It represents the trip that our family went on. It was the first one we were able to go on in a while because my brother and sister were always busy with school.
c)     This is significant to me because it was my first time going to Hawaii. My mom and my dad have been 3 times and it was my siblings as well. It was one of my favourite trips and I hope to take my family on it when I’m older. As well I would like to visit Hawaii again with my family in the upcoming years.

Basketball Provincials
a)    A blue t-shirt from basketball provincials last year.
b)    This represents that me and my team have been there in previous years. We never got anything more than a t-shirt which I hope to change this year.
c)     I am looking forward to this because we have a great team this year. We have lots of potential to do well and possibly be provincial champs. This would be an amazing experience for me because I don’t know if I would be able to make it back there again.

To become a doctor
a)    It is a clay model of a stethoscope.
b)    It represents that I want to be a doctor as my profession.
c)     This shows that I have a goal in front of me that I want to reach. I know that it may not be easy but I know that it is achievable. A stethoscope is a tool that doctor’s wear around their necks and if I do become a doctor it is something that I will have.

Persuasive Paragraph

Helping save lives is something I’ve always wanted to do. Being in control and giving diagnoses to patients. A doctor is my dream job. There is no other job I would like to do. There are many pointless jobs in the world, one of which is working at Hollister. I mean the music is so loud; it can’t be good for your hearing. As well it’s a store, the music is supposed to be a background noise not affecting the conversation you want to have with a friend. The other fact about it being a store is the lighting. How do they expect you to find something you like when you can barely see it? In addition the models wear clothes that are not even in stock or that the store doesn’t sell. That’s not really promoting the store very well. In conclusion, a doctor would be a better than a job at Hollister for many reasons such as for money, education, experience and various situations.
